The Jersey Devil is a legend that goes back to the 1800's when the Leeds family gave birth to their 13th child, who was deformed. Due to societal norms of the time the child was locked in the basement. When the child grew older he escaped and murdered some people, people assumed he was a devil because he was deformed. There are a lot of books and seminars on the subject in South Jersey

Ummm I hate to break the news to you, but the original house is no longer a house, its just a area of blocks and its in the middle of the woods on private property. I have heard many many stories and I think they are just that stories. Take care KG

I heard about that. I'm from NJ and know that once there was a poor, big family. The woman was giving birth to her 10th child and when he was born she said "let the devil take it" and so he did. He became possessed or deformed and went to live in the fields. There is a tour every Halloween for people who want to go there.
