Normal is what society tolerates.... s
psych definition...

(with blue hair, it's o.k with me, pink hair is better)

go and be the rainbow princess...

Society did not want to tolerate me because it was not normal..

answer them by saying, I will die my hair a natural color for you, I will walk the way you want me to walk then I will take my 4.0 become a lawyer and sue every principle and teacher in this school for suppressing me. For denying rights of humanity, and with my 4.0, I will tie the case up in so many courts that if I did not win you would be broke and bankrupt to the point that you did loose for supressing me and making me in something I did not want to be.... a lawyer...and for the hate that I developed due to your definition of not be normal..

(will that be normal of enough for you, I go now to change my hair for you... and to continue my education so I can be what you want me to be)

Normal is a joke. People think that what little they've seen of the world is the whole world, and whatever they see the most of they call normal. They go on to say that normal is good and any variance is bad. Then again you could say murder, rape, and theft are normal with how common they are. Normal isn't always good or always the true normal. Just be you. If their reason is that your blue hair isn't normal, then they have no valid stance that would hold up in court. Document everything the administration says, when they say it, and who was present. You have a case for a lawsuit if they do kick you out. If it violates the school's dress code, then you're better off changing schools.

Nothing is "normal." We are all different and unique human beings. That is what makes life and this world so fascinating. I like you for your 4.0 and blue hair! I look like a typical middle-America blonde girl wearing a suit to work at a conservative office every day with a bunch of executives that are probably not what they appear to be either. What people presume about me based on appearance and what is the truth are polar opposites. If only people knew! I am a goofball...toally quirky. I am addicted to reality tv and General Hospital. I ride dirt bikes every chance I get. I am a complete sports nut. Most of my friends are pierced and tattoed from head to toe. I live for a game of pool. But ask anyone at work and they will tell you I am quiet and probably go home to watch the news every night before a simple dinner and then off to bed. Blah! They have no clue.

My point is this - be who you are and don't worry about what other people think. You will find your niche...your bag...whatever you want to call it. People who like and accept you will eventually fill your life if you are true to yourself and as honest as you can be about it.

Keep doing what feels "normal" to you and you'll be just fine!

I think you have a point. Normal is as individual as the next person. What I would say is alot of people seem to try and not be normal e.g. try and swim against the flow, but end up giving up and just going the easiest route. How many people compromise on their dreams and what they want out of life, because of the norms of society. Get a job, get a mortgage, get responsabilities. Some have the sense to take a deep breath and try and become truer to themselves, take a risk. However it is a hard thing to do. So I say 'Go for it' for people who dare to be individual and remain so!!! Down with normal up with indivduality and enjoying life to the full!!!

Well try to make a definition of "normal" without using the word NORMAL. It is hard to do.

There is really no definition all across the board answer for that. What may seem the norm for one, may be the absurd for another, and is that right, NO it is not.

The most important thing to me and most people, BE WHO YOU ARE, and proud of it.

If you want blue hair, go for it, people change their eye color with contacts, does that make them abnormal, no it does not.

People are afraid of people who choose to be different and think outside the box. People fear this and this is when prejudice kicks in and persecution.

Be proud of who you are, and as long as it does not in fridge on someone else, and does not harm them, continue doing it.

I think that is the biggest thing, do not in fridge on someone else, and do not cause them harm, other than that, anything goes.

Normal is different for every single person on earth. No two people have the same idea of what normal is. I think my life is pretty "normal" but so does the kid who has 15 cats living in his house and his mom yells at him every day and his dad hits him or whatever might happen. You develop your own concept of normal, or you will never be happy!

Its equilibrium, balance

The community has one set of norms, but the individual has his/her own. The trick is navigating between the two norms.

Don't worry about normal, worry about not caving in without a fight. If the blue hair (or anything) is important, stand your ground and tell them this is part of who you are at this point in time. The problem is they don't want to adapt, but guess what, they adapt everyday to new things and so too they will with you.

Uh, yeah, okay. I think you have been watching too much T.V., Sweet heart. I know you probably think that people judge you because you're "different", but nobody really cares what you look like. I mean, I'm assuming you are in high school because you're being a typical crybaby, i -wanna- be -noticed -because i'm -special little girl. Let me give you a reality check little one. Unless you are a celebrity or a famous pop star, you're blue hair just looks queer. It's not cool and if you really want to be noticed for being a dumbass, just spread your legs. I'm sure it worked for your mom.

Our society seems to be getting more intolerant which scares the hell out of me. Obviously I am old enough to be your mother. When my daughter was in high school, they were giving her friend a hard time because his hair was purple. He said, "It's not purple, it's fuscia!" I had to suppress a laugh because I am an old hippie, so I remember this kind of discrimination against our dress & hairstyles. Anyway hang in there. If you're carrying a 4.0 you'll own them someday!

Well, blue hair is not normal because it is not a natural hair color. They are threatening to kick u out of school for blue hair??!! Wow! That seems to be a little extreme. 4.0 - congrats. Is anyone 'really' normal?! Every one has something or does something abnormal - if blue hair is your only abnormal, good for you.
