does the collections company they sent you to still have any say over a paid in full debt you resolved?

What I'm trying to say is I paid the bills on my original accounts but haven't yet acknowledged the debt collectors whom think I still owe.

No your contract / agreement is with the original compnay - they have the agreement with the collection agency - if you have paid in full then tell them to go away...if you feel so inclined then you can show them proof but you are not obliged to - refer them back to the original company.

You can send a copy of the statement saying paid in full to the collection company. It will probably do you little good as collection agencies are not known for their tact or brains. I would have the masters call off the dogs. Make sure the company you owed contacts the collection agency and let them know the debt is paid.

If the collections company bought the debt, they have no say in anything. The company sold the debt for pennies on the dollar and wrote it off as uncollectible. The collections company uses the debt as a license to harrass you into paying them. You gain nothing by paying them except that they'll stop harrassing you. If on the other hand, the company hired the collections company to enforce payment, there are or will be lawyers involved and you need to give the debt top priority. In this case it is the company to whom you owe the money, but if the collections company incurs lawyers fees you owe them too.

yes like paid in full thru collection or acount sold to another, same as bad credit... thats why i filed bankruptcy cleared all credit and was offered credit cards and got nice home loan 3 months later.
