Surfers like it because of the highly relevant results it gives and the speed at which it delivers them. This is due to its complex text matching algorithm and of course the Pagerank™ system that this engine uses. More on the Pagerank™ system later.

Actually, recently Google has changed their algorithm for the worse. It's desire for page rank means that Google's results show only "popular" websites. Also, they are very slow to update their information. If a site has new content on it daily, Google doesn't pick it up for weeks, maybe months. The only reason it's the most popular (and by far) is that it was first. Sad though.

Probably because it is so well known. I read the book "Linked" and he suggests that we will stick to what we "know" or have heard...
