It depends what you mean. Of course the Germans were in it the longest. But Japan started its conquest of China in 1936. But that wasn't considered part of WWII at that time. The Americans did not commit until after Pearl Harbor Dec 7th 1941. But due to Americas industrial might they helped supply ALL the allied countries including Russia even before 1941.
Now if you are talking casualties the Russians suffered the most at over 20 million killed.
If you are talking about the number of battles fought that would be the Japanese. That is due to the fact that each island the Americans took in the Pacific had to be fought one by one. Add that with the battles the Japanese were fighting in China, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines the Japanese fought the most battles. I hope this helps.
If you can find the book "Total War" (sorry I forget the author) it will give you ALL the statistics for WWII

As unbelievable as is may seem, over 60 million people died in WWII. That includes millions of deaths to soldiers and civilians from all over Europe, Asia, and other continents.

There were "only" 400,000 Americans killed, but we did a lot of the successful fighting. Without America, it is highly doubtful that the outcome would have been the same and we would be living in a dramatically different world today.

The war lasted long enough that technology and invention became a big issue and America was at the forefront of both and likely brought the war to a faster conclusion that would otherwise have happened.

Germany by far had the most fighting to do in WW2. Both of her Allies were not very helpful with the fight in Europe.

Germany and the United States were the two largest nations involved in two front battles in WWII. (Although Britain and many allies were involved in both fronts for the US.)

The argument that Russia was involved in the most fighting is valid based on their casualites. However, a majority of battlefield casualties for the Russians occurred at the hands of the Germans who also fought in North Africa and the Middle East, along with the remander of Europe and Eurasia.

Germany is the best answer

"Most fighting" i would presume would be number of battles and number killed. Using that premise, the Red Army tops all the other countries combined in killed while the Germans, of course, fought in more battles...having to deal with a two front war.

It is believed that the Soviet Union had the most injured and killed in action during WW-II. I think the statement that is made uses the word 'estimated' because the real numbers will never be
known.

Germany because they initiated hostilies. It's not about casualities. The better fighter or the first to attack has fewer casualities.
