My point issss.... She moved here from australia because her husband got a job transfer to the united states. and she had always lived in australia. I dont think that if she planned to stay in australia her whole life, she would take any major courses on AMERICAN history since its not her country. so THAT is why she can't teach american history. she didnt even have a college major in it. She majored in like skin care.

Why can't they? History is history - English history is taught in the USA, French history is taught in the UK, Russian history is taught in Australia. You don't have to be American to teach American history - it's not like your teachers actually lived through the Revolution or the Civil War and are passing on personal experiences.

If the teacher is a pain in the a*s, that's a completely different issue.

One thing to remember is who wrote the history. I imagine that Australia's view of American history is slightly different from America's view of American history. So...she was taught a different version than you. Use it as an educational opportunity...history is generally (always) written by the "winner," and as a result is skewed.
That really sucks...I understand how it would be difficult to switch teachers mid-course. Hopefully there will be some leeway given in terms of grades...different teachers teach differently, regardless of nationality.

My sister in euro white and teaches Native American history along with world history in New Mexico. What's your point?

So, in a world history class, when discussing India my teacher should be Indian, and when learning about German history, The teacher should be German?
Sounds a little wacked to me!
As far as her credentials a friend majored in women's studies and when she couldn't get a job went back and got her teaching degree. She is now a 1st grade teacher, awesome and loves it.

I have found that people who are from another culture are far more capable of teaching a subject about history or culture when they are a removed from that culture itself. It allows them to give a perspective unblemished by the effects of living withing that culture or any particular bias towards a mode of thinking. Do you dislike her because you think she is a *****, or does she present a view diffent to yours that you are not capable of countering through analytical reasoning? Either way you are going to look like an idiot if you try to pull this off, You will make everybody else think you are shallow and stupid and probably get her more support. But good luck anyway
