Fusion voting is used in 10 states and 5 states allow for write-in fusion. My question is can third parties use it to their adavntage to win federal Congressional races? Maybe they can have a candidate and if a major party doesn't field one, it can support the third party candidate. I'm with fusion voting but IRV is definitely the beginning of reform. Serious and detailed imformation please.

Fusion voting was tried in the past. In the 1860 elections groups ran slates of electors agreeing to proportion their vote. It did not work, and was abandoned. With the high cost of running, the major parties don't want to siphon off their strength.
