Which system is better for database extraction on the web?

By the way, I use a mac.

I have found MySQL with PHP extremely powerful and easy to use.

Short answer: Filemaker is easier, SQL is better. But SQL may also be easier for the Internet, since its usage in this paradigm is more widely documented and supported.

The other benefit of SQL, is that no matter which database platform you select, you can script tasks like extraction with little trouble.

Platforms to consider: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sqlite
