banning of same sex marriage is the same as discriminating against a minority group. (as any minority group society attempts to suppress them until the feel unworthy and would rather hide them in the closet) It is the same as slavery, a group of people trying to control the lives of a minority group. I have many thoughts on theis and could ramble on. We are looking for individual rights, the right to visit a partner in the hospital, a right not to have family to contest wills, a right not to have our bank accounts emptied by vicious family members that suppressed are partner through life.
We are asking for the right to show for the funeral so family members can not block th funeral from us.
We are asking for human rights (not gay rights are any other special intrest right, the right to love and feel free with the person we love, knowing what we create, we will not always be in the position to protect with lawyers and etc)
good question,,,,might be a very intelligent question, thumbs up
PS.
I wanted to add, that I am a bi-nation relationship, we lived in two different countries as americans we do not have the right to sponsor our partner. So now I live in a different country where we were legally partnered and accepted in to sociey. (we have the rights of that country, I did have to go to the american counsulate of the country getting authorization to do so) as I was in the closet most of my life,,,,it was a humbling experience but one I do not regret. This relationship cost me much, Yes he was worth it, we live a good life and I have excepted me new language and new surrounding..... Wow, sometimes I still miss the salt of the ocean from the atlantic (but that has lessen in time and now I see my family about once a year and it is exceptable but less of the rights, I felt I should have received from my mother country, as any good child, I still love my mother land)

There is nothing wrong with gay people. I have 3 gay godfathers and i think they're in the STRONGEST relationships i've ever seen.
Some people say that gay people shouldn't get married cuz it's a "special right"...I'm sorry...maybe i'm a retard but SINCE WHEN DO STRAIGHT COUPLES GET MARRIED WITH SO CALLED "SPECIAL RIGHTS"? The US shouldn't ban gay marriage based on Christianity either...reasons:
a. SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE...does no one read the CONSTITUTION anymore???
b. Christianity also says that if you get unhappy with ur wife you can marry more, and if a woman gets pregnant without being married (or even just loses her virginity) she can be STONED. Yea. The Bible even says that eating pork (or any animal that doesn't chew it's cud) is a sin. O and the fact that one should not wear clothes made of different material. YEa...i'm pretty sure we can all say we have "sinned" before so don't use the BIBLE to back yourself up.
c. Americans have also had bans on- black people getting married to eachother and mixed race marriages...people said they WOULD NEVER HAPPEN. BUT LOOK!!!! They did!
d. YIDLMAMA (or whatever ur name is) this is for you- America was NOT founded by Christians completely!!! Yes Christians came here first but our GOVERNMENT was created by a mix of Christians and DEISTS who don't have ANYTHING against homosexuality!!!
America was created to be FREE!!! Give people the FREEDOM the country says they're gonna get goddamnit!!!

There is nothing, not one single thing, that heterosexual married couples (like me & hubby) will lose or be denied if gays can marry. Marriage equality would hurt NO ONE, and only make others happy.
If marriage is really the foundation of society, you'd think people would want to encourage it more, not less. I maintain that anyone who is against marriage equality and yet does not cry out about divorces or divorce laws is a blatant hypocrite.
People are against it because they see it as condoning that behavior, as if what other people did in bed was any of their beeswax. They like the thought of making life as difficult as possible for people they disagree with. But we are speaking of consenting adults.
Denying secular, legal marriage rights is flat-out discrimination. I think very little of anyone who condones this cruelty.

I've never quite understood why anybody cares. If a person were straight and had a spouse, an employer would have to pay benefits - why does the employer care what gender the beneficiary is?? And if two people of the same sex want to sleep together, it doesn't matter to me, and doesn't affect me, so I don't see why I should be involved in their business. Oh well - when I get human beings figured out, I'm gonna write a book and make my fortune; which means I'm not counting on collecting any royalties any time soon ;-)

I have no problem with two people who are homosexual that wish to get married. I feel that it only the general ignorance of many in society determines otherwise.
I am not gay, and I am openly proud of that fact. If I was asked to be in the wedding party of a gay couple, I would do so in a heart beat.
It is a shame that society dictates how the heart should feel towards another person.

My next door neigbours are a gay couple. They've been my neighbours for over 20 years and theirs seems to be the most solid relationship on the block. I was happy for them when the law passed and they could make their comitment official. Yes, they got married after 18 years of living together (do realize that nowadays more than half the heterosexual relationships do not even last 18 years). Who are we to judge the love that my two gay neighbours share?

You know you said that Homosexual have no rights...bull!! They have the same rights as any other person in this free country. They are not given "special rights". Our country was founded by Christians and the philosophy of man & women is defined in the laws today and then. Most people go back to their religious beliefs when deciding marriage defintions. Its not just Christians by the way ...its many other religions as well.
Good luck on finding the answers you are looking for. I don't think any one person can give you the answer you are looking ofr....it all opinion and personal beliefs and it kind of goes back to "majority rules"
Good Luck on your report!!

There is no reason to be against them. They are just like any other normal person. America is a free country is it not (Assuming most people here are from the U.S.)? Then why are people making such a big deal out of something that shouldn't even effect them (unless they are gay)?

i am also heterosexual, but i believe they should be allowed to be married if they want. they fall in love just like anyone else does and want to have families just like anyone else. why should we stop them from what everyone else is allowed to do? they are the same people as everyone else. how would someone feel if their brother or sister was gay and they weren't allowed to get married to the love of their life? how would they feel if they got told they couldnt get married because they have brown hair? people are so ridiculous when it comes to gay marriage. just because it's something you don't do doesn't mean it's bad or wrong. some of my best friends are gay and i love them just the same as i would anyone else. i feel bad for people that are narrow minded and waste their energy trying to hurt other people for no reason.
