And why the hell would any gilr want to be like them? Hello?!! Isn't it obvious this image contributes more to the negative typical gender-specific expectations for women (ex: ditsy-ness, weak, vain, un-intelligent)...come on girls! we need to do something about this!
p.s. I am not a raging feminist at all! I just don't understand this phenomenon....and why the hell do we call eachother bitches and whores....damn! :-O

oh, and in response to dearest Tab H.'s comment below ("Paris Hilton is PUTTING ON AN ACT. She is basically an actress doing a part 100% of the time. She is a fun, smart, beautiful woman... When you ask why you call each other names - why aren't you asking yourself? You started this question with hate and negativity and wonder why it spreads? You are continuing the cycle of hate. If you don't like her simply don't watch her, don't buy her book and don't read articles about her, those of us that 'get it' want to continue the fun."):
First of all, the fact that she's even (maybe) putting on an act, it still reinforces negative stereotypes of women (or in your words, "those of [you] who 'get it' want to continue the fun"). well, how fun! Why does a woman have to lower herself to these standards? That's exactly the point.
Also, I'd like to point out that me calling ParisHilton a stupid airhead (since both men and women can be stupid airheads) its not the same as hateful terms (*****/ho).

Nice, intelligent people have (sexual) fantasies about these people because it is easier (for a guy who normally wouldn't) to objectify them when they portray themselves so one-dimensionally.
This is also why I worry about other girls admiring and imitating them. They become the lowest denominator because this gets them attention- which they equate with validation.
An analogy might be Americans losing jobs because they are moved to Mexico- where they work for a quarter as much. The women who go lower get the attention- but nobody really wins.

First off you really need to realize that Paris Hilton is PUTTING ON AN ACT. She is basically an actress doing a part 100% of the time. She is a fun, smart, beautiful woman. Why in the world would Simple Life have a season three if she were not these things.
When you ask why you call each other names - why aren't you asking yourself? You started this question with hate and negativity and wonder why it spreads? You are continuing the cycle of hate. If you don't like her simply don't watch her, don't buy her book and don't read articles about her, those of us that 'get it' want to continue the fun.

This is just a theory I have, but I think it has less to do with society and more to do with the media and money. I think most of us really don't give a damn about Paris Hilton. (or K-Fed, Nicole Ritche, or any celebrity) however the media constantly puts them in our faces for some reason.
Tab H: Paris Hilton may indeed be a fun, smart, beautiful woman. But if that is the case, then she needs to be herself. There are many people (young girls in particular) that do not realize that she is acting. Paris either needs to be a better role model or change her demographic.

I believe individuals are exactly that.
Some people are born with looks.
Some people are born with brains
Some people are born with money
I think this question is extremely catty and bitchy. I doubt very much that men (or women) would consider Paris Hilton the 'average female' as she is far from it.... therefore I doubt this is impacting on the females liberation (however stalled it is at the moment)
P.S. we like her because she is funny, unusual, and has a billion dollars - lol

Celebrity is like a freak show. I think these people are put up on a pedestal just so we can watch them be knocked off it. Perverse pleasure.
I don't know many adults, male or female who don't see these images as being curiosities rather than admired.
Paris, et al will soon fade away and replaced with someone else.

They're rich, fashionable and meet the ":media ideal" of what a woman should look like. Which, despite the work of both raging and moderate feminists, is still all society thinks girls need to be.

Thank you! I'm sick of this, too. There are so many women out there who are smart and good looking that it's just ridiculous to keep idolizing these idiots. There seem to be only two types of women in the entertainment industry: the dumb-acting airhead (whether these women are dumb or not, they certainly act that way) and the "quirky" funny one who is more neurotic than appealing. I'm sick of it!

NOOOOOO way! Why in the international might we'd prefer to be like HER? aside from her money, she has executed particularly no longer something and have been given recognition for it. people who hate her are actually not jealous of her, they hate her by way of fact they have adequate experience of their heads to renowned that she is a stupid slut who would not deserve something. i ask your self why God might bless an anorexic airhead like her, yet no longer tens of millions of perplexing-working people obtainable?
