First off, the Pets Expansion Pack is totally worth it. I am enjoying it a lot but, I am a very animal friendly person. If you don't like critters, it's not the EP for you.

You will not need to use the Sims 2 disk when installing the EP. You will only need the disks that come with the EP. So if you already have the base game (The Sims 2) installed on your computer, you should be able to install Pets without a problem.

Make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements before buying the EP. There's no sense in wasting your money if you can't use the EP since you can't install the original game on a new or upgraded computer if the disk is missing.

The Sims 2 DVD version has merely one disc, installs quickly collectively as the Sims 2 CD version has 4 disc and takes longer. it is the only distinction between the two, although once you are going to get the Sims 2 base interest you prefer the only with happy trip journeys on it with the aid of fact it has the extra desirable content fabric from the happy trip stuff %. in it.

you can have either one. I dont know if you need the disk when installing, but you probably just need Sims 2 installed. it is an expansion and wont work without Sims 2 installed.

well if you didn't load the regular sims 2 into your computer than it will defintly won't work. when you do install it, it just ask you for the regular stuff: code[on back of instruction booklet] and the two disk. and yes it is worth buying. i love pets and it's sooo much better than sims unleashed. if you liked the unleashed one than you'll like this one. you can create your own breed. better pet graphics. better stuff to buy for your pets. it is super fun. There is this cool bonus actually there is two. one: if you get the game at target, there is this dalmation sticker on it. it'll tell you how to unlock the star dalmation. and two:the pet's get to have jobs and earn money. hope this helps! :]

i don't have pets yet but all the other expansion packs require you to insert the original disk at some point during the installation.

I don't think you need the DVD, just the CD.
