Depends what exactly you mean by separation of church and state. The First Amendment is desgined to keep the government out of the religion business; there is no prohibition on people of religious faith participating in politics.

Why ought to anybody attempt to respond to till you surely study and understand the form and bill of Rights. via now all of us be attentive to which you liberals can twist the reality so undesirable it is unrecognizable. You do have the Obama, Palosi es and Reids feeding you and additionally you will swallow like a new child and candy. In essence the the form says the government can not set up a faith. there is not any longer something in there that announces something approximately separation of church and state. we've inalieable rights given via God. Obama and no person else can exchange this with out changing the form and bill of Rights. it is obtrusive which you don't be attentive to the form or your person Catholic faith. study the Catholic Catecism and instruct your self. Be honest while replaced into the final time you gained any of the Sacraments? once you're a fallen away Catholic provide up transforming into such scandal.

Uh maybe we shouldn't go by what the politicians now say and actually go by what is said.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This means that the goverment can not legally recognize a religion as the state religion, or treat any religion in a different matter. In short, it means that you treat the religions equally

Probably the biggest reason is that our government was started by people that believed in the Christian god. Their beliefs guided their formation of our government, and whether intentionally or unintentionally, they also became part of our government.
Also, more recently, Christian religious leaders and groups have pressured our government to put their beliefs into the government. Take, for example, the words "under God" in our pledge of allegiance. They were added in 1954 after the Knights of Columbus campaigned for the change. This is also the case of many laws, ie abortion, gay marriage, polygamy etc...

Separation of church and state is a myth. IN GOD WE TRUST is printed on every government issued coin and bill. The IRS decides which religions pay taxes and which don't. ONE NATION UNDER GOD is still in the pledge of allegiance. Sessions of congress begin with a prayer.

Don't sweat it, the church has been officially rejected by a supreme authority for a while now. ( Where've YOU been? ) Whatever government is pushing is another matter. You seem bright, share some insights with us now that I straightened you out.
