Man, this is actually a really great questions. SNAPS TO YOU FOR POSTING IT!

If sleep wasn't necessary, I think we would be far more advanced in.. well...everything... man... this is so a discussion question and not just a simple answer...

If memories were only retained for a year, I think it would be sad because there are so many great experiences you want to remember.... not to mention learning from mistakes. You would just make them over and over. I think people would be immature.

If sleep wasn't necessary I think people would still lay around and rest but there would be a lot more time. The world would probably be more lit up, power and food consumption would go up. If you could only retain a memory for a year it would be like the saying a double edged sword as you'd lose all your good memories but it wouldn't be so bad to lose some of the not so good ones.

okay..good questions but for some reason i think of questions for answers
q1: if we didn't sleep, would we still have the same effects of not having enough sleep? would our eyes be constantly burn for rest? be bloodshot red?
&
q2: if we only retained memories for a year; how would we remember the essentials? we'd never get passed a year olds training of thought. how would we get to the point of adulthood to realize that it is a memory?

wow great questions

1. I cant imagine life without sleep! it would be weird never to feel tired but I suppose never getting tired doesnt mean never getting stressed. we'd probably be more active but if our minds arent getting a break we could all end up having breakdowns

2. well a lot of criminals would have it easy for one thing! plus if we dont have memories we dont remember our mistakes and then we cant make much progress

it would be boring cuz sleep is so nice.after coming home from work at 8am and seeing every one rushing abt i put on my pj and sink into my bed with 3 douvets, there is no nicer feeling. id hate to loose that.

oh that would be great, there would be no pain of first love and broken hearts etc, but it would be bad as we would not remember the dead that are special to us ie relatives and friends who have died

i think that it would b very interestin if we didnt have to sleep. it would b cool. cuz jus think about it. think of all the things that u could do instead of sleep. i think that the second question about the memories would suck. cuz some of my best memories go way back and it would suck to not remember them.
