Does anyone know of any research on having a baby after a hysterectomy? I'm only 24 and had a hysterectomy last year. I really want a baby but have no ovaries or womb. I've heard that womb transplants may be available soon? I know I would still have to use a donor egg but surely this is worth it.
If you know of any research at all I would be very grateful xxx

That is only theory at this point. There is no practical application. Some research has been done in Japan with virtual wombs outside of a body. A goat was "born" from a plastic tank. At least that is where the gestation took place. I am not sure you would call that a birth. I believe that what you are talking about is years or decades away.
It is more likely that cloning technology will allow you to have a new set of organs which are genetically yours. That too is experimental. I personally see cloning to be more likely than transplants and other similar technologies.

I wouldn't wait on this womb transplant. It could be yrs and yrs before it is approved. By then you could be in your 40's. Your best bet is to adopt or look into surrogacy. Good luck!

I just saw a story about this on one of the AM news programs.
Its being researched overseas. One person has already had it but it weas rejected very early on. They also said to not expect it here in the US for a LONG time .
