Carter over Bush. Neiter was effective as a President -- but Carter is honest & probably the best man to have ever been President.
Clinton over Reagan, hands down. The US never prospered as much as it did during the Clinton administration. His scandal was personal, and had little to do with his ability as a president. I do not condone it. On the other hand, I was disgusted by the Iran-Contra affair -- which I view as a much worse scandal. Even so, people forget that Reagan made it harder for Americans to go to college, and put one of the worst Secretary of the Interiors ever in charge of our natural resources. He gets credit for the fall of Communism -- but those who know anything know that the credit should go to Walesa and Pope John Paul II.
Johnson over Bush Sr is an easy choice. If it weren;t for Vietnam, Johnson would be considered one of the rgeats. He is responsible for pushing through the Civil Rights legislation.
Lincoln & Washington -- apples and oranges. Lincoln had no slaves, so I choose him.
Roosevelt or Kennedy? We don't know how good Kennedy would have been. He wasn't able to enact enough legislation, but might have been great. But we do know that Roosevelt was great. He had a lot to deal with (Depression, WWII).

George W. Bush is better than Jimmy Carter because he has actually done things while in office. You may not like what he done, but he has done things like conquering Afghanistan and Iraq. Jimmy Carter is known for what he didn't do. He didn't send our Olympic athletes to Moscow. And he didn't get our hostages back from Iran.
George Bush, Sr. is better than Lynden Johnson only because he has no competition. Lynden Johnson is without doubt the worst man even to sit in the oval office. He was a sitting president who didn't have a chance in getting renominated by his own party. Johnson possessed three qualities never before found together in a single president. He was arrogant, corrupt, AND incompetent.
George Washington is better than Abraham Lincoln because he set so many farsighted precedents that have prevented our country from spinning into chaos. He is truly one of the greatest leaders of any nation in war or peace. Perhaps if Lincoln had lived he would have and been able to implement his vision of reconciliation he would have approached Washinton in accomplishment. Washington's vision was followed up on, Lincoln's was not.
Franklin Roosevelt is better than John F. Kennedy. Roosevelt stood up to two of the greatest challenges ever to face our nation. The depression, we've never been close to this type of unemployment or hunger since; and World War II. Roosevelt is great becuase he steered us through a dangerous time and we came out on top. Kennedy stood firm on Cuba and avoided a major conflict. This is also a great accomplishment, but a single incident doesn't compare with Roosevelt's list. Again had Kennedy lived and had more time, he may have done many more great things.
Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan tie. Bill Clinton is one of the most intelligent and competent administrators of the nation we have ever had. However, he is morally inferior to Reagan. Clinton got caught with his fingers in the cookie jar and he lied about it. Reagan got caught with Iran-Contra and admitted that it happened. Ronald Reagan was a great salesman. He knew how to sell his vision to the American people and they never kne they were buying someone elses vision. Raegan was likeable, but he was never an original thinker. His promoters have always given him credit for things he did little to bring about. Cheyrnoble had a lot more to do with the fall of the Soviet regime than Ronald Reagan.

George Bush- Carter though honest, was incompetent. Bush had less than 9 months before 9/11 happened to get everything running and most presidencies require two years to get the wheels turning in the right direction and to get policies in place. Then we had Katrina and FEMA did everything right, when the Governor and Mayor of the States and cities reppectively did not. Who got the blame? Thats right, the President.
Ronald Reagan- He brought pride back to the people
George Bush Sr.-Johnson sent millions to Vietnam while his wife's construction company held the contracts to build roads in the country
George Washington- because he got our country through its birth pains and held the union together
John F. Kennedy-Becasue Roosevelt knew Pearl Harbor was the Japanese target three weeks before it happened and he had vision for America's future

Carter (Very bad) turned the most trusted ally of the US- Imperial Iran- into the most deadly enemy. He also "gave away" 14 countries to the soviets- by failing to intervene, even unoficially, when the soviets were pushing in guns and "experts" by the shipload.
GB (jr) definetly a good guy. Two countries liberated from tyranny. The effort lost in regaining the states so easilly given away by Carter is staggering.
Clinton. A bad joke. gets lost in skirts and then starts a war in order to turn attention away from his possible impeachment hearings. very bad - the archetype of the washington politician who cannot be trusted. Ended up helping the enemies of the US
Reagan (good guy) Helped free over 200 milion people from under the soviet yoke. When he started, US was the laughing stock of all the world (Iran hostage crisis- another Carter saga). When he ended, the US was the one and only superpower left standing on the battlefield of the Cold War and the USSR was history.
LBJ quit once the going got rough in Vietnam. Abandoning friends in need is a bad show. Pity he could not follow on the example given by JFK's honourable stance
GB (sr) Saved the honour of the US by helping an ally of the US, even though it was said to be impossible and a lost cause. Not to mention a "quagmire" hoopla in the mass media about 16 hours from the start of fighting. One thing he did bad was to leave Sadam in power- OTOH that's how the "allies" wanted it. Good guy.
Abe kept the country together but turned it into a centralised state with the federal branch at the top- not too good IMO, but it works.
GW helped create the US- good. OTOH he might have done better not to remove the US from the Brit crown, but strive to reform the system, helping to create a "one state" world- with the resulting end of major warfare and possible expansion to the stars. This may sound like heresy to an USian- but then I'm not USian
FDR and JFK are about equal- both stood by their commitments and defended the free world

Jimmy Carter got the foot in the door with free trade.
Lynden Johnson tried to win the war in Viet Nam but the Congress wouldn't allow it.
Abraham Lincoln was better than George because he learned from all the presidents' before him, their mistakes.
John Kennedy because he was the first to see in war you need Special Forces.
Bill Clinton got the National Deficit that Ronald Reagan got up to over 7 trillion dollars down to zero.
When George Bush was president it was over 9 trillion dollars and Clinton got it down to zero. Conversely, when GW Bush was in office less than a year the National Deficit was back up to over 3 and a half trillion dollars. Clinton was the first President in history to get the National Debt down to zero.
