NO OFFENSE TO ANYBODY I AM NOT RACIST

You pull up at McDonalds or someplace and there's some guy who cannot speak correct or even close to understandable english talking on the speaker, then when you order he repeats EVERY word of your order and at least half of it is wrong! Should'nt they give this kind of job to people who can speak clear English?

We have people like that in EVERY JOB over here, I think it must be part of the job discription act, If you can speak english go to the dole office, we can talk down to you and you will understand, but if you cant speak english, here is a 30k a year job in customer services.

Personally i think if you go to another country to live you should have to learn how to speak and read AND write in that native tongue. If you cannot, jobs that place you in the forefront to deal with customers shuold be avoided all together.

But hey- if I went to Germany or somewhere like that- I would be the goon everybody talks about!!

But lets also clarify- TONS of supposedly "fluent English" speaking Americans cant be understood, read or write the language either....

I agree, but the thing is, those are the kinds of jobs that are the easiest to get....also, no offense to anybody. If you don't have much of a job history, or if it's your first job, it seems that fast food or housekeeping is the way to go. Believe me, I've had my share of both. It's just got a lot to do with entry level positions, I think.

i'll start off by sayin that im not racist. i think that the people from other countries deserve a job jus like the rest of us and the same opportunities. but i think that its really stupid to give them a position at a job where they have to talk to people over the phone and an intercom. no offense to them but nobody can understand what they're sayin and then that leads to people gettin anrgy and rude. so i think that they should have them do something else and save them hassel of gettin yelled at. its not their fault that they have an ascent but people get real mad when u get called or gotta talk to somebody that u cant understand.

OMG - no kidding! Sadly, the people who can speak clear English appear to be working at better (i.e. more $$) jobs.
The same seems to be true with people at 'customer service' phone jobs. How the hell can you provide me with customer service when I can't even understand you?!!

Yes, I feel the same way about telemarketers that ring you (mostly when you are sitting down to dinner) and you can't understand what they are trying to say.
Or taxi drivers that can't speak or understand basic english, or know where they are going.
I know that everyone has the right to work, but to the people who do the hiring, HOW MANY SALES ARE YOU MISSING OUT ON BECAUSE YOUR CUSTOMERS CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOUR STAFF, OR YOUR STAFF CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOUR CUSTOMERS NEEDS.

Regardless of their race, they should make sure that a person can speak and hear clearly, when working at a place where you are taking orders all day.

Yes... I know that English is pretty hard, but they have to have at least a general understanding of it so that it doesn't make the customers mad...

Yep! I agree. That particular job needs to go to someone who can understand and speak clearly.
