Get some turtle wax (like for your car) and put A LITTLE bit on a soft cotton cloth. Working in circles from the inside the disk to the outside, work the turtle wax into the scratches until you can't see it anymore. This has worked great for me.

use toothpaste. rub it in the crack in a circular motion. idea is to fill the crack so the laser beam glides right across it.
