In order for the people to make a star, when they are finished
they need to be standing as if they are the vertices of a regular
pentagon. Each person will be standing the same distance
from his neighbor on either side. How do they get into those positions? Well, that is the team building exercise.
I will say however, you need to have a rope which is five times as long as the distance between alternate vertices.
I would say 50 ft would be needed to make a decent star.

You need to start one person at the end of the rope, and position the second and so forth at the other points, criss crossing the rope in the center to make the star pattern. Remember how you drew a regular star when you were in school? Use that as your basis.
