My girlfriends daughter mentioned that she worked 8 hours and got a few minutes for a break. I told her it's the law you are supposed to get 2 fifteen minute breaks. She said not in Michigan.

it depends on her age. In Michigan If she is a 15-16 she is required a 15 min. break every 2.5 hours. If she is 16/17 she is required to have a 30 minute break every 4.5 hours. If they are an adult the rule of thumb is after 4.5 but there is none.

It is the law every where, if michigan state has a employee to employer law then read it & you will know the rights under the fair act right. If she is not satisfied and complains about it after each day then tell her to complain, quit & leave & find another job that doea give 2 /15 minute breaks.

I thought it was a law in Michigan if you worked 8 hours per day...I've had employers who didnt do it though...everything about our economy/workforce just sucks, eh? I looked online for something and just found a whole bunch of legalese crap that we mere mortals cant decipher...haha

I believe most states require 15 breaks. I would probably look into this.
