Explain why or why not you feel there is validity to this statement.

Right on. We go for the opposite because it is unfamiliar and therefore exciting, but someone who is truy our opposite has nothing in common with us. So you get an exciting, passionate, relationship with no foundation, and probably an ugly ending.

When you get the "like", they may not be as exciting at first, but you have an automatic good foundation for the relationship, and you'll understand them better and your lives will fit together better. They don't have to be YOU in the opposite sex, but it helps to have common interests.

False. In the old time, maybe it was right. But we want love, right... The ones that are like us are sometime great friends or allies. It's not attractiveness. The ones that are not like us are attractive, because they already possess the main qualities that we miss. But I'd rather stay with an attractive opposite than stay with a person like me. We must be full of passion... I prefer intense love to platonic friendship.
