my car is burning oil and runs loud and i've been told that my lifters might be wearing out

The answer is yes also look for a can of the oil treatment for reduces oil burning and quietens lifters and try some of that in there.

Yes, but they don't cause you to burn oil. And don't let these numbnuts talk you into using heavier oil. It won't flow as well in the tight spots and will accelerate the death of your engine. It's mainly good to quiet things down while you're trying to rip off the person buying your car.

All cars have lifters. They help to raise and lower the valves allowing clean air to enter the piston and exhaust gasses to leave.

Does the car smoke and have a lot of miles? If so, the engine is worn out. It will need a complete rebuild or replacement.

if you dont put any oil in it, you wont have the problem of it burning.
