Obviously, it all depends on who she is and what sort of things interest her. Think about the types of things she does in her spare time. It doesn't have to be romantic, either. For example, if she likes to play video games, get her one.
If she's one of those girls that really doesn't have a hobby, maybe you could think of something a lot of women like that maybe she'd be interested in. I've bought my wife a scrap booking kit, Game Boy games and accessories, books, DVD movies, and a subscription to People Magazine.
If you're willing to spend a bit, you could get her a nice purse (Coach for example), an iPod, jewelry, or a bike.
Another suggestion for future reference. If you're like me, ideas for presents and good Halloween customers seem to come up all year round, with the exception of right before you need to make a decision on what to buy or be. I'd recommend making a list somewhere, and when an idea comes to mind on a random day in July, for example, add it to your list. ...or for your girlfriend, if she drops a hint some time, make sure you pick up on it and add it to your list. ...I just referenced my list to think of some things for you.

Well, it just depends on what she likes. But good stuff- perfume(Dior,Gucci,Chanel,&Ralph Lauren are my favorite) an ipod, a nice piece of jewelry(i would suggest a pearl ring or bracelet with maybe some diamonds), or some designeor a massage or something at a salon, candles, bath and bor sunglasses
and for little stuff- movies, and gift certificates fdy stuff. Just simple stuff like that.
It just depends on how much you want to spend and how long yall have been together

You gotta listen...girls drop hints all the time. when you are out with her, does she notice jewelry? Does she say she wishes she had an ipod? Does she say "we should go there sometime", does she say "I really wish I had a 15 ct diamond necklace like Princess Di wore!" stuff like that *wink*
You could also get her a massage or something like that, but that depends on how old she is ;)
There is that kind of stuff, then stuff that you just think will make her happy...sometimes you gotta go with the hints until you get to know her better.
One thing I would stay away from is tools. Tools and car parts. Most girls I know also don't care too much for lawn tractors.

PERFUME!!!! This is my first christmas with my boyfriend and I have been dropping hints left, right and center that I love perfume and when you give it to her you can tell her that when you smelt it you thought of her...awwww. Other ideas; expensive body lotion, a book by her favourite author, a massage voucher, sexy underwear, the possibilities are endless!

You can never ever go wrong with jewelry. In every price range you can get something cool.
Freshwater pearl earrings
earrings or necklace in her birthstone
small gold or silver cross or heart
Or a teddy bear and a mix CD of "your" songs
She will love it!

Something she likes but would never spend the money on for herself. The key is not to be cheap. You don't have to spend a small fortune but get her something of good quality. Girls notice stuff like that. And it's true that if you listen she will drop the hints you need.
