Don't get stressed out about it. Read over all the material you have from the course, once, twice, as many times as you can. relax. remind yourself why this is not really all that important in the long run of things, and that you will just do your best. then go in there and let it happen.

I would suggest studying after the nine-year-old has gone to bed, and maybe asking your husband if he could help out around the house until after you've taken your test. In the English book, it would be a good idea to study mainly the vocabulary first, then the grammar. You could even practice it during the day, reading articles on the Internet or in the newspaper during your downtime. This is a good way to grasp the structure of a language because you are immersing yourself in it and reading something interesting at the same time. Once you get used to it, it will become a second nature to you.

Also, a note about prepositional phrases: they are extremely movable, as in the following example:

He bought a camera in the store.
In the store, he bought a camera.

The second one is less ambiguous, but either sentence is grammatically correct. Since many function as adverbs, there is a lot of flexibility in where you can put them.

I hope some of this helps. Good luck on your test. :)

The best thing you can do is relax. Worrying too much about the test will make retaining information much harder.

Look over the information at a pace that seems right to you. Look over the things you find hardest, but don't forget to look over what you find easier too, just to refresh your memory.

Have your son help you study, or if it is hard to make time to study and watch him at the same time, have someone look after him for a while.

Good luck with your test!

Spend a whole day dealing with everything in English. Pretend you are an gentle English lady. Get your mindset within the Englishness. Think English. Then things will come naturally.

In any good SAT book there is a section of words that would help anyone with vocabulary. I suggest note cards!
