I am not sure what you are asking exactly. Hip Hop is a way of live. Living and breathing the poetry, visual art and dance. To fully embrace Hip Hop you should do some reasearch to find more out about the essence, the four fingers with the thumb of humble expierences that make the fist that rocked the world. It is not just a popular thing to do for a year or two. Its more of a commitment as an artist to express yourself and know the roots of the culture.

The Elements

1) MC'ing (Rapping)
2) DJ'aying (Scratching and spinning records)
3) B-Boying (Break dancing)
4) Stylized Grafitti Art

If you dance, are you"joining" Hip Hop as a B-Girl (a girl who break dances) or do you just dance any kind of way and wear baggy clothes? I would say to join the Hip Hop community you would do well to find out more about what you want to do. Like Crazylegs was one of the best breakdancers in history but with so much international participation Hip Hop's roots are ever widening. Did you know that break-dancing morphed from Capoeira the Brazillian Martial Art. Many moves are similar and use a similar center of gravity. Be a "legitimate" participator and know some history and then just be yourself. If you are Hip-Hop grunge or Hip Hop country.. Thats OK. Having fun and being REAL is all thats important. Good luck..

You won't know until you try whether or not it is worth it. People who do it will tell you it's worth it. People who don't do it will tell you it's not worth it.

I can't picture you teaching or dancing hip-hop to anyone when you are 50, as far as using it through your life goes. But it can come handy when you are in your 20s.

Go for it. Take one class and if you don't like it, no worries, don't sign up for it again.

Hey, your clubbing days are just around the corner, you don't want to be a wall flower do you?
