Can anyone give me a brief synopsis and opinion of "The Dharma Bums"?

The author recalls - and novelizes - his experiences hanging around with a few guys that might have been characterized as "bums". He saw the zen in it, in the lives and ideas of these free spirits, as they encountered life just as it is.

My opinion? Another example of something idealized, because in the end we are all dreamers. In the end we are all looking for the next better thing.
