When the Euopeans came to the Americas. One of the many things they found were Turkeys. They didnt have Turkeys in Europe. they also found corn potatoes Ever heard of the Columbian Exchange? yeah. well thats the Indians finding crops from Europe and the Europeans finding crops from America. therefore TURKEY is important I guess.

A little known fact. Ben Franklin wanted to make the turkey the symbol of the US because it was he felt it was a strong bird and fiercly independant. Thankfully, the Bald Eagle was chosen.
