Find an indian costume at a costume store, and wear lots of beads and feathers. Also, wear a pair of mocassins

Most would assume that you are looking for traditional Native American attire to wear. Do a little internet research on the tribes that were native to your area and what their traditional clothes looked like then head off to the local resale shop to modify some cheap clothes into your Native American attire. A last resort would be to get a generic Hollywood-version of Native American attire.

WOW to that one response. I live in Oklahoma, where there are a lot of reservations and a lot of Indians/Native Americans live so I called my Indian friend about one response given to you. She says, yes she is an Indian & a Native American. But when schools are referring to Thanksgiving, they do use the word Indian. So, please do not respond the way that someone mentioned to your teacher.
I am not sure of your age, but I remember when I was younger, a paper bag was great for the vest with drawings and such on it and than you can make a simple "head dress" out of construction paper. Make a band around your head than cut out feathers or use real feathers and staple to it. Good Luck!

Ok. First the word :"Indian" is only useable if you are referring to people from India. Native American is the proper terminology. I don't know if you heard the word from a teacher at school, or for that fact where you go to school, but tell that teacher it is no longer proper terminology. I live in Western New York and there is a large population of Native Americans and also reservations in this area. None of whom wear head dresses and feathers. I have a professor who is Native American and she wears jeans and shirts. If I were you I would tell this to your teacher and wear regular clothes to school....

Oh, something else to add to that...
Back when I was in grade school they called sitting "cross legged" Indian style. That is no longer proper terminology either.
