I will be graduating high school this next may, and moving to another state (my homestate). I will probably attend a community college for my basic classes in order to save money. My question is...how can I survuve? I'll need to find a place to live. Obviously I'll need a job but I will only be 17 at graduation, so I don't think I can get a full time job. I may be able to stay with a family member, but will still have to support myself financially. I have a few thousand dollars from social security but I need it for school. Help!

Actually you can get a full time job at 17, especially if you are a high school graduate. Look into college scholarships, you may be able to qualify for some help with school. You may need to work a full and part time job during the summer, and a full time job while taking classes during the school year, but you can do it.

Good luck!

at 17 you can work full time. However, even a community college gets spendy- $1000 for tuition and $300-500 for books....EVERY THREE MONTHS. You have to put away $500 a month just for tuition..which makes an apartment hard to keep. So if you can live with a relative, get a full time job and put as much into savings as you can while still payihng for your degree. In 2 years you'll have an AA and can transfer and have some money to help or you'll need to just work.

Student loans often pay for housing, books, etc, but you of course have to pay them back.

being 17 might not hold you back from being full time, it depends on where you go to work and they might give it to u. walgreens photo department has excellent pay. try fin. aid to see what you can get to pay for school. for a place to live-- if you dont live with a fam member (which i would recc. until u get a little cash flow for an apartment) get a roommate or 2. ive sold back movies, cds and electronic ie game cube nintendo games that i dont listen to/play/ watch to get some money and u could try to have a garage sale for anything in your room that you dont use/need any more. hope this helped a little

Andi,

This isn't gonna be easy for you. But apply for any and all grants. Or try to find a job with tuition reimbursement (usually at a bank). And most importantly, USE YOUR TIME WISELY!
