Many consider it to be a classic young adult (12-16 yrs old) book. It is a wonderful read! Try it!

It's considered a junior reader. But it's a classic of the genre. It's been translated in many languages and was around 20-some-odd years ago when I was a teenager.

Yup. First criteria for a classic is age. Second is still available. Third is recommended by schools. Fourth is made into a movie. It passes.
