It allows the police to use the excuse to obtain more funding from various sources. Unfortunately, the government tries to act like private industry where bigger is better. Bigger is not better - bigger is merely bigger. Efficiency is the key. Unfortunately, the government bear by its very model is inefficient.

The only advantage is to drug dealers. They would not have a job if it was legal. The war on drugs itself implies that there is a military or police solution to the problem. The national drug problem will only be fixed if we start treating it as a medical problem and treat the people on drugs instead of imprisoning them.

NONE! not a single advantage. Except to those seedy gov. Bank accts. in New York. Oh ya theirs that whole new privatized industry growth. Warehousing people for profit. You just know when a company is making $$$ on the # of people being warehoused for the fed. It is not going to be fair.

Advantages?

Well, maybe employment. It provides an otherwise unemployable thug with a job of arresting non-violent, tax paying citizens.

I can charge my customers more money due to the perceived "risk".
