Keep up the routine maintenance:

The fluids -- oil, transmission fluid, etc. -- and filters should be changed regularly. If the car came with an owner's manual, follow the guidelines.

If you hear squealing when you apply the brakes, it probably means you need new pads. Other than safety concerns, a delay in replacing worn brake pads can lead to more costly repairs.

If you didn't buy the car from a reputable dealer, you should take it to the shop soon for a check-up. If the oil is dirty, replace it and the filter. Have the brake fluid level checked. And the brake pads. Have the mechanic check all the hoses to make sure they're still supple and free of holes.

Enjoy!

Run good synthetic like Mobile 1 in the engine and flush the transmission with synthetic fluid. Don't buy generic brand gas. Don't put snake oil additives your friends tell you about in the engine. Flush the brake lines. Change the differential oil. Don't wait for things to fail completely before you fix them.
That kind of stuff.

What is this "30 day gap"? There is no magical 30-day period in which you can change your mind and back out of the deal. Used cars are sold as is, and there is no right to return a vehicle, so you can get that out of your head right now. If the vehicle has a warranty, then the dealer is obligated to repair it under warranty. A warranty is not a money back guarantee, and the dealer has no obligation to accept the car back. His only obligation is to make repairs if it's covered by warranty, if no warranty, then you are on your own.

Change the oil and filter regularly.
listen for any change in sounds, whirrs or clunks. If there is a change, there is a reason. Cars rarely break without some sort of previous notice.
