i want to download music from the internet but cannot find a site that allows this free of charge

just a word of advise.
lime wire is very good but also uploads from your computer
make sure you only designate file you want to share
if you read the set up it shows you how to do it

most sites that make u pay have a free trial.. so u can use those. but no sites nowadays let u download songs for free. Limewire is popular, free, unlimited but ILLEGAL for music.., so be careful!

download limewire for free from limewire.com, download the basic version

well if you mean you want to steal music, then there is limewire, kazaa, any number of sites let you steal music, but there aren't many that are very reliable.

download 'shareaza', its faster, more professional than limewire, plus very easy to use.
then u can download any music....
