No such word in the dictionaries old or modern, although there used to be a cigarette brand "Kool".

It is just a slang way of saying cool. Cool is doing you and not caring what anyone thinks of you. Just be yourself, not change your beliefs, or morals for anybody.
Cool is also being fashionable. In my opinion everyone has their own degree of coolness.
