Hi, I am looking to buy a serious sporting DVD documentary (UK region) on professional wrestling as a Christmas present for my grandad - he's a serious fan of the sport - I know nothing about wrestling and don't know which ones are good or lousy - please help! (no recommendations for 'gay interest' or women's mud wrestling please - Ebay is full of them!)

"Beyond The Mat" (1999) is a great place to start. Ron Howard directed it.....he interviews several big-name stars from the past to get their perspectives on the sport. Not sure if it has been released for DVD yet, though. You might want to check that out.

beyond the matt is a fantastic documentary and it shows that wrestlers do get seriously hurt ( mankind the rock with no crowd amazing) also the new vince dvd is really good, aslo raw at war has good interveiws and footage

beyond the mat is the best one out there...wrestling with shadows is intriguing because it follows bret hart through his last year in wwf with lots of footage involving the survivor series incident.
