It seems more people would have a chance to vote, it would be easier to get ballot workers and volunteers and we'd be celebrating freedom!

My Vietnam veteran friend was commenting on the lack of Veterans Day Celebrations. This would celebrate Vets helping to defend our freedom and right to vote You could vote AND go to parades, etc..

Hmm,not a bad idea, but I think people will try to focus on the BBQ, maybe we could incorporate a ballot box at all of the National Parks, and some local city parks.

Because organizing both Veterans Day celebrations AND an election at the same time would be way too much work to be practicable.

Actually Veterans Day is a celebration of veterans (not really freedom, at least not directly). Veterans are military personnel who have served our country in war. I think that it might give soldiers an unfair advantage in politics. Our country might hold military issues with higher priority than others, and our military might be used more actively than it is today.

Election day is always a Tuesday and all voters are allowed time off to vote, by law.

Voter turnout would be affected if election day and Veterans' Day coincided.

what day would YOU propose for families to mourn and commemorate their loved ones and our heroes ?

It seems to me that doing so would reduce the significance of veteran's day

AND Im so sick of people saying they could not make it in to vote......they open the polls as early as 6am and close the polls as late as 10pm......and they also have ABSENTEE ballots if you cant make it....there is no excuse
