Many people would believe that aliens would have to exist if space was infinite (it seems the logical choice). But if you include time into the equation, it becomes a less plausible theory.

Time is also infinite as long as it can be subjected onto something - which it always can - Could be anything from the length of a thought to an atom

As an example: If time is infinite, an alien race could have had infinite time to develop, infinite time to live and infinite time to be destroyed before we even came to exist.

Though this does, by no means, negate the existence of extra terrestrial existence. What it means for me is that the chances are 50% (half to time and half to space)
- this obviously excludes any religious intervention -

Well, Rhys, I have to agree with the other commentators regarding your misconception of time. Time is not infinite, but rather, finite sense it has a beginning, then it must also have an end, negating the infinity attribute. The same would have to apply with space due to the combined unity of the four dimensions of space and time, being width, length, depth and time. Hence, our Known Universe must have a finite termination boundary.

But beyond our Known Universe may also exist something similar to what you describe, a separate and much larger Trans-Universal Superstructure of which our Known Universe and the other hypothetical multiverses are a minuscule part, since we know from quantum equations that 90% of the mass of what should be the Universe is missing, and as much as 37 additional dimensions are unaccountable for. Hypothetically, this Exo-Universe is most likely infinite in space and time, being entirely immeasurable and ceaseless in every regard. It may even be the realm where God is.

But perhaps you meant to question: "In the long duration thus far to the chronological course of our Known Universe's existence, surely other planetary civilizations of varying degrees of technological development may have evolved, and if so, what are the chances for these extraterrestrial civilizations to have emerged and died?"

The closest process we have dealing with this basic question is not on a universal level, but on our galactic level. This has been theoretically postulated by Frank Drake in what has become known as the Drake Equation:

N = N* fp ne fl fi fc fL

The Drake Equation was developed by Frank Drake in 1961 as a way to focus on the factors which determine how many intelligent, communicating civilizations there are in our galaxy. For further information check the following WEB site:

What of the theory of relativity, and of bending space?

Also, treating space and time as dimensions should be considered.

Time isn't really infinite as it exists only as a means of explaining a condition of living. Also, if that were not true, time would only exist since the beginning of the Universe. Therefore, while time may "go on" infinetly, at any given moment it is finite - stretching from the beginning of the Universe, till know.

Why not ask if time would exist if man was not alive?

Time and infinity don't belong together. Time requires a beginning and an end, in our conception.
If the universe (space) is infinite, not only does it require other life, it requires other life identical to ours in every way but one difference. It could be something as small as the number of atoms in your body to something as huge as a Nuclear War. In an infinite universe, it's not that everything is possible, it's that everything is happening right now, a moment ago, and a moment from now, and there is absolutely no way to prove otherwise.
Then again, there's no way to prove the universe is infinite, so it's sort of self-defeating. How do you prove anything with referrence to infinity, something that can't even be proven itself?
Bah! I'm no mathematician, though, so...

Your premiss that space is infinite is faulty. Space is finite. Time is also finite.

All of this has nothing to do with whether aliens exist or do not exist.

Most people who believe that alien life exists, do so because other wise we are all alone in the universe, and they do not want to be alone.

The only way this question can really be answered is for us to go into space and find it or for the aliens to land in Wahingto D.C.
and shout here we are.

Time is finite in that it has a beginning if not an ending. Life is not co-linear to time. Certain stages have to accomplished before life can begin.

people think aliens exist, because of time not space, which amounts to saying the same thing. you should probably re-write your question...because it really makes no sense.

Don't forget space and time are intertwined and bend around large bodies of mass and are subject to change with speed.
