Get your resume together and post it around the other salons in your area. You've got the qualification, you've worked a year "in a junior position gaining experience" and you're "ready to take on more responsibility" they'll snap you up - THEN you walk out of work.

Have you talked to him about this? You should conront him with that and explain that you are not learning anything new and that it would be in his own interest to train you up so that his customers will be more satisfied with well-trained service.
If he seems unreasonable, then look for another job and mention in you application that you are thinking of leaving your current job, because you are ambitious and want to progress (that always makes a good picture) and say that in your current job you are not given any opportunities.
Are there any training schemes in hairdressing that you could do, to which you boss has to say yes?
Good luck!

That is so rude of him.
It depends how much it is upsetting you. If you can handle it, then I think you stay there while you look for another hairdressing job. If it is really bad then leave straight away - your health and wellbeing must come first, so you don't want to be going home stressed and unhappy.
Keep up the college course. It is always good to have a formal qualification for your desired career.

I would leave! It is actually not that hard to get you another job. Yet you need to consider it is easier to get another job when you have one. Think can I afford leaving. Or just look around then leave when you get into another place. Most colleges provide you to work in a salon that the college has where you work as a trainee yet you wont be making the full amount. Look around when you are driving many have booths for rent. Look in your local paper. There are job/ career searching sites like monsterjob.com. I wouldn't waste your time! It prolongs your experience in being a hairdresser.

I'm feeling exactly like you are at work. I want to leave. I would suggest that u start looking for another job and stick with this one until you find another one. That is what I am doing even thought I hate it at work at the moment. I have actually got an interview next week and hopefully I will be able to get out of my sh!t hole. You don’t want to be out of work and not earning any money. Don’t let your boss get to you. I know it is hard, but stick in there!!

Don't walk out, because then you won't be able to put this place on your resume. Give your two weeks and find another salon to work for. Just let them know that you are really interested in moving up and are eager to learn new things. Tell them your old job offered no room for growth.

On my last job I walked out. I was tired of being ignored. If you are not showing your talent and doing what you love, you should leave and go to another salon or work from home until you can afford your own shop.

It's perfectly fine to walk...that is, when you have somewhere else to go. Granted, you're hating where you work and the way you are being treated...but it is a paycheck. So, unless you are ready to go without money for a period of time...don't walk until you have a guaranteed new job to go to. Until you find another job, be patient, and walk when you can truly afford to do so.

Well, yes! walk out of it of course..
But be there till you find another job, then quit! (unless u can't take it longer)
This time learn from ur mistake! Get employed where u can learn, develop & actually do the work you love!
Good luck

You have three choices. One, You suck it up and take the crap from your boss and maybe just maybe someday he'll remember what your name was. Two, You take the end of the broom handle and shove it up his As*! And do a Johnny Paycheck and Take that job and shove it!! Or Three, Just don't show up for work and look for another job. He-l, he probably won't even notice your missing, well atleast for the next couple of years!!! Good Luck!
