Whilst walking down the high street today, I entered several shops, all playing those nauseating christmas compilation cd's (Slade, Wizzard etc etc you know the drill!) and I think I went in 7 different shops and heard the same tune consecutively!!!!!

But it's the middle of november, its not christmas, what the hell's going on there? It's getting earlier every year for gods sake!!!

# 'Well I wish it could be christmas, every dayyyyyyy.........' # Actually, I don't wish that at all Roy my old son, what are you on about???

# 'So here it is, merry christmas, everybodies having funnnnnnnnn...........' # Actually, Noddy, its not even december yet my old son, what are you on????

And the shops are packed to the rafters with christmas shite!

Would someone care to explain this madness????

With you there. They seem to think that playing all this lovely stuff will get us in the spirit to spend more (ooh, san-ta baby! slip a sable under the tree! for me! a 52 convertible too! ooh hoo! )- that one always works in girls' clothes shops apparently. No, I do not want to get up dancing with the rest like grandma, I do not want to hang my stockings out until 10 December at the very earliest, and ba humbug to anyone who says otherwise! Excuse me, I must go and open a window on my magical chiming advent calender - Don't ya just wish it was Christmas ev-ery day??!!!!!!!!!

The middle of November isn't actually early to be playing these CDs. I'd say the beginning of November would be the perfect time. It's not madness, it's business. They know people are going to start thinking about Christmas in November and thus think about buying Christmas presents. So, these songs put people in the mood. This is the most profitable two months for shopping for most businesses so it makes plenty of sense. Just because it annoys you doesn't make it madness. A month isn't actually a long time when you think about it, and Christmas will be here before you know it.

Afraid I can't answer as to why, but why not join me in my absolute refusal to do anything remotely to do with Christmas shopping until the beginning of December at the very earliest - maybe if enough of us took this stance the commercial bread-heads would think twice before decking the halls in November (or worse October!) - same goes for Easter eggs on sale before the snow drops have put in an appearance - and possibly the worst of all - "Back to School" range on sale BEFORE the summer holls, how very cruel they are!

Just another way to cheapen a "religious" holiday's meaning. Some of the prior people are right, it is all about the money. Where would these businesses be without getting half of their profits over the holidays? I understand the appeal of "the holidays" but I thought it was more about family togetherness and celibrating the birth of Christ. But apparently according to Wal-Mart, Macy's, Target, and half a dozen other companies, we are supposed to accept the cheapened and overly commercialized version of Christmas.

LOL

I know how about the christmas trees and all

at least it gives me an excuse to go inside the stores everyday as I could easily say shopping for christmas presents, as they too have made everything for chritmas look at this as a blessing to get away with some of your things you want to do that you normally can't

Because they have had a lousy summer stocking up and not sellling what they stocked up with . So they have to get themselves out of the fertiliser on expenditure and so some t...t says "I know we will start Xmas early". So the customer can buy summer bargains cheap and get ripped off buying Xmas presents all at the same time. U could not make it up!!!!.

confident, they almost certainly would be, yet many of the smaller chain shops could desire to easily be opener shorter hours. a manner of having a clue is that if the shop opens for shorter hours on a Sunday, that's going to be open for those hours on economic enterprise trip journeys besides. happy procuring =)

to remind people that it is nearly christmas and they sell things that you might buy as christmas presents.

just think how the full-time workers in the shops feel hearing the same songs over and over again for hours at a time.
