As long as there aren't any "No Loitering" signs hanging about. Then again, cops don't really enforce loitering laws unless they're bored, rookies or need to reach their monthly quota.

You can camp out legally but there are restrictions.
If the store owns the pavement outside or you are in a mall then they can ask you to leave. When asked you will then be commiting trespass (maybe loitering- depends on the technicalities) if you refuse. If there are signs (unlikely outside a shop- if the sign is far away then you can claim ignorance) then this counts as 'being asked'- therefore you can technically be busted- but usually you would just be asked again.

The truth is that it doesn't matter because it is legal for anyone to beat the living crap out of any geek who camps out for a videogame.
I like videogames too but that is more than a little extreme.

It's not illegal necessarily, but the store may have their own policies on loitering (and therefore they can call the cops if they see fit). One example - the Target store near my house was not allowing ANYONE stand in the parking lot and wait for the new PS3 systems to be released until after 5am. They had signs clearly posted stating this though. So to answer your question in a short form, no it's really not illegal.

It depends upon the store. some will let you camp outside for a week, while others only let people line up that night. Some don't allow it at all. i would recommend calling and asking the store's manager.

I'm sure you can, If you can wait weeks in advance in front of a movie theatre to see Star Wars, I'm sure you can camp out for a video game too...

Yea, so far that I know of - there's no explicit rule against queuing outside a shop... have you seen sales at clothes shops and women fighting over handbags etc.?
