There is the possiblilty of asking your landlord to sit down for a chat, explain whatever it is that's going on in your life, and ask him or her to kindly let you out of it with a reasonable amount of notice. Offer to help find a replacement tenant, or fix up the place so its ship shape to show to prospective tenants. Never assume they'll say no.....they might respect your taking the initiative to ask and say its no problem.
