The best thing to do is go to work for an auto upholstery shop. You will most likely start out doing "grunt" work (sweeping floors, carrying seats and the like). Work hard and watch and learn everything you can. After you prove yourself a reliable hard worker, they will teach you the trade!

Just get an old junker and rip it up. Pull the interior out, make some mods and reinstall it. Once you have a basic understanding of how it works, you can go to school to learn the finer points.

the best thing i can tell you is go to a junk yard and purchase some old seats and have at it. hands on experience is the best way to learn something like that. the seats dont have to be good ones they can be trashed. and as far as the door panels, they are just pop on and pop off. the head linder is easy to do, use a spray glue and work from the center out with a roller to press the material to the head board.
