Yes it is reasonable and you should surround yourself with positive people who recognise your strengths. This is easier said than done.
Good luck.

It is reasonable, but... to except the other, is a quality far better. Living, breathing is a quality in life that many over seas, don't even get. Being humble, to what you have should be recognition in it's self.

No it is not reasonable to expect to be recognised.
The problem with people who expect recognition is they are so
busy pointing at the things they want recognised that they don't even realise that they haven't done nything worthwhike.

On the other hand, the person who does what he has to do to get the job done, without expecting anything, will be rewarded.

So stop whinning and do what ever it takes to get the job done.

You'll be surprised at the results.

Another important item, it may not happen were you did the work.
Someone else may hand you the reward.

. . . recognition and respect?
No, these qualities must be earned and it takes more than just hard work!
A little talent might help. And luck.
It takes education, knowledge, understanding and the ability to schmooze well in this world. Are they qualities in their infancy or well developed?
Everybody is born with qualities and strengths.
Hard work to bring out these qualities really helps.
So does lots of luck!

Only if your qualities are worth recognizing.

Are your qualities strengthened by recognition? Recognition is nothing but rabble and babble anyway.

Please, may I have best answer?

Is it reasonable? Yes, it is. To want recognition is very reasonable and human. But to seek it out and always expect it, no matter what you did or who you did it for is not.

There is nothing automatic about that recognition. If you're an expert auto mechanic, you do need to make others aware of that, preferably someone who needs their car fixed.

That depends. If you have extraordinary qualities-- like Mozart or DaVinci or Einstein -- then no, it isn't unreasonable to expect recognition.

If you're like most people, yes, I think it is unreasonable. That's why it's so wonderful to receive a compliment.

In a thousand years, no one will even know that you were around. Oh, you might be a name etched on a tombstone somewhere, or inked on a family tree, but even that will eventually turn to dust. All your dreams and accomplishments will be lost to oblivion.

Yes, it is reasonable. Even necessary. As humans we flourish in positive situations. Negative situations are better handled if you feel needed and successful.
