Babies are naturally picky (food neophobia) and it takes upwards of 10 experiences of a new food before they begin to accept it (unless it's flavors babies are inherently fond of such a fat [milk]). The best way to get a baby to eat a food is to keep exposing him/her to it. The more foods you expose them to, and the more times you do so, the more likely they are to accept new foods at an earlier age. Older children also tend to model their parents, so don't force her to eat her veggies and not eat them yourself, demonstrate they are yummy by eating them yourself. Also, don't make them something negative by offering rewards for finishing it. This just ties a negative connotation to the food and will never promote eating it without prompting.

She's doing great for a 6 month old. Some babies at that age are not even ready for solids so she is way ahead of the game. She isn't being picky, she is trying to let you know to try something else. There are pears, apricots, peaches, etc. We all have tastes and they are all different, and that includes a baby. Feed her what she likes and will eat because we feed our children to help nourish them and help them grow, not to make them like all the stuff we like and to obey what we order them to eat. Her tastes will change when she grows. Grow with her. Lighten up Mom. And please don't be one of those that makes their kid eat everything on their plate or get punished. That is just power and control parenting. Good luck. By the way, try giving her little pieces of banana. Maybe she doesn't like the texture of mashed bananas. You say fresh? Mashed fresh apples? She could choke on little pieces unless it is cooked, like the Gerbers applesauce.

She will become picky only if you let her. If she doesn't like something one day try it the next and the next and so on. Some things just take getting a taste for. Usually by the third time my son likes anything. My kids never ate any solids really well until closer to 8-9 months so maybe she just needs time. Good luck.

I have three children of my own, 14, 12, and 11. since they were babies i am concerned about them no being picky with food. i believe i have done a god job. Though I still have trouble with them about this now and then, I suggest that you eas her into it little by little. For example, instead of giving her a full serving of the new food, just give her a taste of it every now and then so she gets used to the taste and eventually she will eat more and more it has worked for me, I hope it works for you. Good luck and God Bless you and the baby.

TASTE BUDS DEVELOP DIFFERENTLY AND AT DIFFERENT TIMES.
it is also studied and the one i read said It takes ten tries to change a taste. so stick with what they like and give ten tries on each new one. make sure she does at least the taste or two FIRST before other foods.
also you may becasue of mass marketing unknowingly have her into sugar and refined foods already.
take away any sugary foods or sweetened drinks at all any cookies etc.. for a month .
talk to the pediatrician to do this in a nutritionally sound way
or look up sites on internet with .gov or .edu.
usually not good to trust .com for important advice unless its a special support page and that's ususally .org
good luck!

don't give up your doing a great job, always go back to a food even if she doesn't like it it's said you need to show a child at least 25 times before they recognize a food so your doing great, have you tried her on from-age fraise/yogurt? she's also now at a stage she can eat anything you do as long as it's really mashed up and it's not to spicy. if you all eat together and she can see you eat ting different foods she'll soon join in. carry on doing a great job
don't be up tight if she refuses other wise she'll pick up on it just let her eat something she like as well GOOD LUCK

Fruit has alot of vitamins, and it has alot to do with your growth and developement in your body. Try a different brand of baby food that has fruit. If so ask a store sales persons to see which baby food is the top seller in the store, that also helps. Good luck and congratulations.

that's normal and it'll go on a long time, she'll eat sooner or later. Here get the book What to Expect the Toddler Years (Paperback) . Don't give up, try different things for her to eat. My baby won't eat certain things unless I feed him by hand! I tried everything and now he is into grapefruits, hand fed. I can't get him to eat vegs and he'll gag too lol. Try different things and don't give up

Be patient, it can take 10-12 tries of a new food before a baby accepts it.
Besides, it's normal for kids to go through phases of what they will and won't eat.
