My family and I are having a talk about the christmas tree and we were having a hard time choosing what colored lights would look best on a Fake Green Tree. Would the tree look best if it had,

Multi Colored Lights and Ornaments or White Lights and Ornaments or White Lights just by itself? And why?

My Christmas tree is so full of stuff that you barely notice the tree!
I have a really nice fake tree, but the more stuff you have on it, the less likely you are to notice the 'fake' parts.

I love tons of multi-colored lights. I have some that flash and some that don't, evenly dispersed throughout the tree. I also use strands of non-flashing white lights amongst the colored, to really show off my crystal ornaments. I use gold and/or silver garland, lots and lots of ornaments, unique ones and also colored balls, also strategically spread out around the tree, and a small amount of carefully placed silver icicles to seal the deal. It takes a lot of time to decorate, but year after year, everyone who sees it remarks on how beautiful it is. And it truly is NOT tacky looking. My husband & I spend our evenings admiring it throughout the holidays. It has so much character that it really draws you in.

That's MY idea of how a Christmas tree should look, but that's the really cool thing about trees; it's a totally individual thing. What works for one person isn't right for another. I guess the question is what you want your tree to say about YOU. Do you want simple and elegant or do you want lively and fun?

Happy decorating!

My favorite is white lights with silver and mauve or lavender bulbs looks real nice. Thats what we do most of the time this year we did color lights and colored ornaments I think it looks ok and it might grow on me but I like the other way better.

I've always loved white lights on a Christmas tree . . it's just prettier to me . . . and you can decorate with red bows (or whatever color you choose) and a few other ornaments . . .

colored lights just look tacky to me . . . it's so 1980's . . . no offense!! :o)

It all depends on the type of ornaments you have...if they are whimsical or cutesy then you may want to go with colored lights but if they are glass shiny ornaments then white lights would be best.

Colored for cute...white for elegant...simple formula.

I agree with the person above who said to go with white lights. Colored ones seem very tacky .

I do my tree with white lights, silver beaded garland, red balls, red bows and an angel on the top. its very pretty. coloured lights look nice if your not going for a theme, but if you are its best to stick with one solid colour.
