I've become a candidate at my school to be the Vice President. I just realized, however, that i don't even know the job description and the actual "task" of a vice president...Can anyone calm my qualm?

High School positions are pretty easy. The VP doesn't do much. LOL Just get the position and your student council advisor will explain what is expected of you.

Traditionally the only job of the Vice President is to be a spare body ready to take over in the advent that the President dies or cannot fulfill his or her duties.
In school politics the Vice President is a full voting member of the Student Council. A member without a specific job so the Vice President is free to take on any job that the student council needs them to do. Like run a can drive for a Christmas charity, or collecting coke rewards numbers to use it to buy something for the class, or any other job that is important to the student council and the student body.
I have never heard of a high school with a Senate, usually the politics doesn't ascend to the level of complexity, at least not in the American public school system. The person who wrote this answer is basing the duties of the VP on the duties of the VP in the Federal Government, where the VP serves as the nonvoting leader of the Senate. He only gets a voice in the case of a tie. The same would be true for a student senate if such a thing existed.

This means you assist the President. You also will be the leader of the High School Senate. If any vote in the high school Senate is a tie, you would make the tie breaking vote. Also, in the instance that the high school president cannot perform his duties, you will take over the duties of President.
