In order to speak the Jamaican dialect properly you would have to have a Jamaican friend or visit Jamaica.

There is such a huge stereotype around where tourists think that all Jamaicans use words such as "Irie" and "Mon" at the end of each sentence. We don't. There is also a misconception that everyone is Jamaica wears dreads and smokes marijuana - not true.

In order to get the real essence of Jamaica you would really have to visit the island.

I think it is really difficult to get a Jamaican accent. U might learn to speak Jamaican (patois) but people hardly get the accent correctly.

I think you could learn the accent by practicing. You need to speak to someone Jamaican or watch a movie with Jamaican accents.

well i guess you could listen some reggae/ dancehall music and watch some Jamaican movies. I guess that could help.

Why do you want the accent?

The only way to get a jamaican accent is to born in Jamaica. When Americans speak our language quite frankly it sounds stupid, to us it's like a mockery. Just try to make a mockery of it like other americans, that'll work.

I am definately going to have to agree with Racquel W on that one. And putting "mon" and " irie" at the end of every sentence is just annoying.
