As a general rule of thumb, whichever is closest to your natural eyelash color. Now there's all kinds of exceptions and ways to coordinate it with your eyeshadow, your hair color, your eye color, etc. I also generally tell older women to stay away from the black as it can accentuate wrinkles around the eyes. Nice soft blacks or rich browns or brown-blacks are best in this case.

I use dark brown for every day use & black when I'm going out at night....which is hardly ever! I also use a dark purple some days...just for fun! I have brown eyes tho so I think it depends on what you like & you're eye color. Play around with different colors, & also how thick/thin you put on eyeliner. As for your eyelashed, thats genetic. That's why someone invented mascara!

my eyes are green, so i use a brownish goldish eyeliner. if i want a more dramatic look then i use black. i'm not sure that there is a way to get longer eye lashes witout them being fake. try out different types of mascaras. the ones with the curved brushes are supposed to curl and elongate your eyelashes *smiles*
