what makes a good song? what ideas can i write about, and most importantly, how do i start out?????

A good song has to have a really catchy or emotional melody and lyrics to match
to start out I would suggest just sitting down and thinking about things that are important to you, then put the pen to paper. something I try to do is say things in a song that aren't boring or non descriptive, for example... instead of writing "my girlfriend dumped me" I would write "She walked away while dragging my heart" things like that...try to paint a picture with words..but that's just my suggestion

writing a song is easy...its basically whatever you have in your heart right now and then you just put that feeling into words. Sometimes it just hits you and sometimes you have to give it a lot of thought. They dont have to have tons of feeling they can just be random...there is nothing describable that makes a good song and usually you dont think it's that great but listen to your friends, they will tell you the truth, I write songs all the time so yeah, it isnt really that hard of a concept but i guess it can be sometimes and for different people its harder---hope i helped some

ok...calm down. just think about what youre feeling, the words will come. you can think of the tune first and then put words to it, or get the words first and put music to it...depends on what's easiest for you. good luck!

It's telling a story, so think of something that you can tell a story about, something you love, something you hate. Turn your poems into songs! :)
