Its mostly because most people misuse the term Migraine.....they think it means a really bad headache. Women tend to get more tension headaches, and more headaches during PMS. It doesn't mean they're migraine in nature. Its one of those buzzwords that people use and don't really know the true meaning. Next time someone says they have a migraine, ask them, have they been to a neurologist who specialized in Migraine or do they just have a really bad headache. You'll get a blank stare for certain.

Some women get migraines when they are on their period. I am lucky as I have never had a migraine and Very seldom get a headache. The only time is when the kids are very noisy.

My ex got migraines a lot and I had to run to the chemist all the time for medication.

There's a significant difference in a normal headache and a migraine. I'll get a tension headache if I'm getting overly stressed out at the office. If I get a migraine, I can't do anything except lay in bed for 3 days until the pain finally subsides and I can move without vomiting and tolerate light without being dazzled.

Men do get migraines. Generally though men don't seek treatment for migraines much so they just say they have a headache when in fact it could be a migraine. Hubby gets migraines and is on medication to help prevent them.

I'm a woman and I get headaches. I have only had 2 migraines my entire life and I am 30. I know plenty of men that get migraines as well. Whoever told you that is full of crap.

Women have better vocal skills than men and when they're in pain can still manage to say 'migraine' while men can just about manage 'headache'.

I'm not sure they do anyways, my girlfriend always seems to get headaches...

P.S> Hey Sovereign_Carrie, your 'migraine' sounds a bit like a hangover. =D

Are you completely serious or just being a jerk? I know women tend to get more migraines then men do because we have so many changes in hormones. I know men who get migraines so maybe it is just that are lucky enough to only get a headache.

No, no, you've got it the wrong way round - women get headaches, men get migraines!

Women get headaches too. Migraines and headaches aren't the same. Migraines are when your eyes go blank and your head hurts and then you get a bit dizzy.
