Iron Man, also referred to as "Shellhead". Iron Man simply has better equipment, weapons, armor, and greater strength than Batman (while in his armored suit). While Batman has gone toe to toe with Superman (with a Kryptonite ring), Iron Man doesn't have such weaknesses. Iron Man has battled Doctor Doom amongst other heavy hitter supervillains, and Batman would lose within the first few minutes-if a battle lasted that long. Iron Man has heightened strength with his armor-he's lifted the Hulk and can lift tanks, buildings, etc. He has an array of both defensive and offensive weapons such as repulsor rays, lasers, sonic disruptors, electromagnetic field, electric shockers, etc., whereas Batman has offensive weapons such as Batarangs, cables, concussion grenades, smoke bombs, and may cause some damage to Iron Man, but very minimal at best. Iron Man can fly at high rates of speed, can submerge in water at great depths, has advanced communication and surveillance devices, and while Batman has some great gadgets, Iron Man has even more and his armor allows him to perform feats that are on the highest level. Batman would lose very quickly.

I think Batman is a better character, but I would have to say that Iron Man would win.

They are very similar, Both are mega rich with secret identities. Both have suits that help them with their crime fighting. Both have advanced technology, and cutting edge gadgetry to give them advantages.

Why Iron Man.

First off, His suit allows him to fly. No batplane, mobile, motorcycles, just him flying around. Batman can glide if he jumps off a roof, but that's about it. Iron man is incredible maneuverable in the air, so even if Bat's was in his plane he wouldn't have the ability to outfly Iron Man.

Second. Iron Mans armour is a lot tougher than Batmans. It can take a real pounding. Even the hulk had to hit him a few times before he put some good dents in it. If the hulk hit Batman it would be game over.

Third. Iron man's built in weaponry is far superior to Batmans. His jet boots could fry batman, his hand lasers could incinerate batman, I'm sure he has some electricity field that would kick in if Batman even laid a hand on him.

Really, He could just grab hold of Batman and fly up into space where he would be fine and Batman would become a Bat Popcicle.

In order to have a decent chance of winning against Iron Man, Batman would have to prepare carefully. He would not use his regular outfit, but one of his special costumes he keeps in reserve for special emergencies. Like the exoskeleton he used against Superman in Dark Knight Returns. Or the armor that was developed by Jean-Paul, when he was temporarily Batman after Bruce was injured by Bane.

Bruce Wayne is a more careful planner than Tony Stark is. Tony always charges in head first, then runs into some problem and has to re-engineer his armor. He adds new features to it, gives it a new paint job and in the next issue he comes back to beat the villain-of-the-month. Ho Hum.

Bruce would study his opponent before meeting him in combat. He would try some new mode of attack that nobody has ever used against Iron Man before, but he would also figure out a way to keep him from retreating and repairing his armor to come back and win. Bruce would be able to take Tony down for the count!

(My guess: nanorobots, or smart particles that could disassemble the Iron Man armor at the molecular level, and Tony wouldn't even realize he was under attack until his suit systems stopped functioning!)

I would say Batman. This is the reason: Batman would figure out a way to defeat Iron man in any arena. Magnetism, Acid corrosion, electrical overload, or what ever.
